A new season of NASCAR Cup Series racing is underway with last Sunday’s thrilling Daytona 500. This week the series moves to Atlanta Motor Speedway for the running of the Folds of Honor Quiktrip 500. Race time from Atlanta is set for 2 p.m. with FOX carrying the race nationally.
Quiktrip 500 Favorites and Top Value Pick
Austin Dillon outlasted the field to take the checkered flag at Daytona to get his season off to a very fast start. Darrell Wallace Jr. also made a strong showing out of the gate in second place followed by Denny Hamlin in third.
The following is a look at a trio of the top favorites to win this Sunday’s race at Atlanta along with my top-valued pick at longer odds as provided by 5Dimes.

Quiktrip 500 Favorites
Kyle Larson +500
Larson is coming off a very successful season in which he made four trips to Victory Lane and 11 additional runs inside the top five. Things came unglued a bit in the 10-race playoff in his eight-place finish in the final point standings. Behind the wheel of the No. 42 Chevrolet, he could only manage a 19th-place finish at Daytona last Sunday after starting deep in the field at 38th. This will be his fifth career start at Atlanta in a Cup Series event. After placing a distant 26th in both his 2015 and 2016 runs, Larson made things very interesting last season by taking second.
Kevin Harvick +500
This has been a familiar name in the favorites category for the past few racing seasons, but the wins have not followed with just two victories last season on his way to a third-place finish in the standings. Harvick is once again behind the wheel of the No. 4 Ford, but coming off a very forgettable season debut after getting knocked out of last week’s race in one of the many wrecks that rapidly depleted the field at Daytona. As far as Atlanta, he has not won at this track since 2001 and his best finish in recent years was second in this race in 2015.
Chase Elliott +650
Driving the No. 9 Chevrolet in his third full-time Cup Series season, Elliott made a decent run at winning the Daytona 500 before making his early exit in a wreck. He led the field for four laps with one of the faster cars on the track before his day came to a sudden end. All eyes are on Elliott this season in pursuit of his first point-race victory. He worked his way to fifth in the final standings last year on the strength of 12 runs inside the top five, but none of them resulted in a trip to the Winner’s Circle. His best career finish at Atlanta was fifth in last year’s race.
