Martin Truex Jr. was a +300 favorite to win last Sunday’s race at Kansas and came through for bettors going chalk with yet another trip to Victory Lane in the 10-race playoff. Kurt Busch ended up second in that race and my top-valued pick at much longer +2800 odds almost came through with a huge pay day when Ryan Blaney finished third.
The following is a look at a few of the top favorites to win this Sunday’s race at Martinsville along with my top value pick based on betting odds provided by TopBet.

First Data 500 Race Favorites
Kyle Busch has been one of the most dominant Cup Series drivers over the second half of the season with four victories since late July including two in the first four playoff races. Even though the No. 18 Toyota is currently second in the standings with 4042 points, he knows that a win on Sunday as a +300 favorite would go a long way towards jump-starting this title run into the final three events. Busch finished 10th at Kansas after finishing outside the top 20 in his previous two runs. The main reason for the lofty odds is a solid performance at this week’s track over the past three seasons. He finished fifth in this race last year and second in the first race here this season.
One of three second-favorites to win on Sunday at +600 betting odds is Martin Truex Jr. Right off the bat there is some tremendous value in these odds given what he has already accomplished in both the regular season and the playoff driving the No. 78 Toyota. He has posted seven trips to Victory Lane in a point-race event this season including playoff wins at Chicago, Charlotte and Kansas in his run to this year’s racing title. With a comfortable 27-point lead in the standings, he is almost a lock to advance to that final championship race. However, one of the big drains on this week’s odds is a very pedestrian 20.4 average finishing position at Martinsville.
Another driver with +600 odds to win this week is Denny Hamlin. His motivation will be sky high given that the No. 11 Toyota is holding down the sixth position in the standings with the top eight drivers advancing to the next round. His last win came at Darlington towards the end of the regular season and through the first six playoff races, he has placed sixth or better in four events including a fifth-place run at Kansas last Sunday. Hamlin’s first run at Martinsville ended in a very forgettable 30th-place finish, but he did take third in this race last season. His last victory at this track was back in 2008.
