Coke Zero Sugar 400 – Top Value Bets
Alex Bowman became the seventh different driver to win a point race this season with his first career Cup Series victory coming in last Sunday’s Camping World 400 at Chicagoland Speedway. Kyle Larson finished second as my top-valued contender, and Joey Logano took third in that race. Once again, Kevin Harvick left me high and dry as my top favorite with a 14th-place finish after starting second.
Turning to this Saturday night’s race at Daytona, the following three drivers offer the best value in their posted odds to win at 5Dimes’ online sportsbook.
Coke Zero Sugar 400 Top Favorite – Joey Logano +880
The betting odds are always higher at Daytona to add some serious value to this week’s favorite. Brad Keselowski is also listed as a +880 favorite to win, but Logano has been racing in much better form atop the current Cup Series standings with 677 total points. He has posted a Top 5 run nines times in the first 17 point races with last Sunday’s third-place effort at Chicago. In his recent win at Michigan, he kept his No. 22 Ford in the lead for 163 laps. Logano’s averaging finishing position through 17 events is an impressive 8.4.
One of this season’s Top 5 runs was a fourth-place finish in the Daytona 500. Logano has been able to finish sixth or better in five of his last seven trips around this track in a Cup Series event. That type of consistency at Daytona is hard to find.
Coke Zero Sugar 400 Top Contender – Kyle Busch +1100
When you can get NASCAR’s top driver at +1100 betting odds to win, you jump all over that bet even if these guys are racing go-karts in the Daytona parking lot. Busch is second in the standings with 659 points due to a few rough outings along the way. However, he is tied for most wins (4) and leading the series in Top 5 finishes (10). Before Sunday’s fade to 22nd at Chicago, the No. 18 Toyota was in the top five in its four previous Cup Series events, including that recent victory at Pocono.
The real value in the odds is the chip on Kyle’s shoulder heading into the second race at this track this year. He took one for the team in the 2019 Daytona 500 when Denny Hamlin edged him out for the checkered flag. This time around, it should be his turn to make the trip to the Winner’s Circle.
Coke Zero Sugar 400 Top Longshot – Kyle Larson +2500
Sometimes betting NASCAR longshots comes down to finding the best driver at the longest odds. While I did not cash a winner with Larson as my top contender last week, my faith in his ability to win races, in general, was boosted with Sunday’s effort in Chicago. This was just his second Top 5 finish this season, but he has still raced well enough to keep the No. 42 Chevrolet race team in playoff position with 451 total points in the current standings.
Larson started this season with a seventh-place finish in the Daytona 500. Anything can happen at this track, and if can avoid the wrecks that have plagued him in two of his previous three Daytona runs, he should remain in the thick of things on Saturday night.
