The third event in this season’s 10-race playoff to NASCAR’s Monster Energy Series racing title returns to Charlotte Motor Speedway for the running of the Bank of America 400 on the road course at this track. Race time from Charlotte this Sunday afternoon is set for 2 p.m. on NBC.
Kyle Busch has been a productive bet this season as a favorite, and he paid off again last Saturday night at +250 betting odds with a victory at Richmond. Kevin Harvick took second as a +450 second-favorite to win, and Martin Truex Jr. made it a clean sweep for NASCAR’s big three with a third-place finish as a +500 third-favorite to win. I went with Clint Bowyer at +1200 as my top-value play at longer odds, and he managed to place 10th after starting 14th.
The following is a look at a trio of the top favorites to win Sunday’s race at Charlotte along with my top-valued pick to win at longer odds as provided by 5Dimes Sportsbook – Click Here !
Bank of America Royal 400 Race Favorites
Kyle Busch +310
Busch has now matched Harvick’s victories in a Cup Series event this season at seven while also ensuring that his run at this year’s racing title continues into the next elimination round in this year’s playoff. After dominating the Cup Series this season behind the wheel of the No. 18 Toyota, he should be in excellent position for this Sunday’s race at Charlotte that combined the traditional oval track with some elements of a road course. This is a brand new venture for NASCAR at this racing venue, which tends to add value to the most versatile drivers. Despite the new twist at Charlotte in the second race here this season, Busch also adds some value to his odds with a victory at this venue the first time around in 2018.
Martin Truex Jr. +525
Road course success along with the general ability to stay competitive in almost every race he runs adds some value to the defending Cup Series Champ’s to win on Sunday. The No. 78 Toyota racing team has made four trips to Victory Lane this season, and it has placed third in the first two playoff races at Las Vegas and Richmond. One of this year’s winning runs was on the road course at Sonoma to add even more value to the betting odds to win this race. Truex finished second at Charlotte earlier in the year after winning the second race at this track in 2017 during his run towards the racing title.
Brad Keselowski +850
Keselowski joins Harvick as a third-favorite to win this race, but I liked the added value in the No. 2 Ford given his recent three-race winning streak. After winning the final two events of the Cup Series regular season at Darlington and Indianapolis, he took first in the first postseason race at Las Vegas. Keselowski faded to ninth last Saturday night at Richmond. As far as his recent performance at Charlotte on the traditional oval, he was fourth in this year’s early race. His last victory here in a Cup Series event was in 2013.
