Carl Edwards proved that he is ready for this year’s Chase by taking the checkered flag at Darlington this past Sunday night. Brad Keselowski finished second and Denny Hamlin ended-up third for the second week in a row. Once again I went with Jimmie Johnson as my top valued favorite for this race at +1000 betting odds, but this time around he could finish no better than his 19th-place start
The following is a look at a few of the top favorites to win this Saturday night’s Sprint Cup race along with my top value pick based on betting odds provided by Bovada.
With one final chance to post a win before the start of the 10-race Chase to the 2015 Sprint Cup title, Kevin Harvick comes in as a +450 favorite at Richmond for this Saturday night. The defending 2014 champion has been right in the thick of things all season long with 18 Top Five finishes in the first 25 point races on the schedule, but he has not gotten the No. 4 car to the Winner’s Circle since mid-March so there has to be some sense of urgency for this team to try and build some momentum. Harvick did post one of his 10 second-place finishes this season in the first race at Richmond on April 25.
The second-favorite to win on Saturday night is Kyle Busch at +500. Even though has already won four times this season, he still needs to finish in the Top 30 of the point standings to qualify for the Chase after missing the first 11 races of the season while recovering from injuries. Right now the No. 18 car is in good shape at 27th in the standings, but the motivation for a strong run still remains strong. Busch missed the first race at Richmond this year, but he already has three Sprint Cup victories at this track and a solid average finishing position of 7.4.
Next on the list at +500 is Brad Keselowski. Following last week’s strong run at Darlington, the No. 2 car is sitting in fourth place in the Sprint Cup standings with a total of 837 points and along with a victory at Fontana early in the year this team has posted another five Top 5 finishes this year. The value in his odds lies in the fact that Keselowski comes in as the defending champion in this event, but he did fade to 17th in the first race at Richmond this season.
