Tuesday’s baseball betting lines opened Toronto at around -180 over Baltimore, with an over/under of 8.5 runs. Early betting action then dropped that line 25 cents, down to the -155 range.
The Blue Jays could also be found “getting” around +100, giving the run and a half on the run line.
Blue Jays-Orioles MLB Betting Preview
Baltimore took the opener of this series Monday night, 7-4. The Orioles hit four home runs Monday while getting 5 2/3 good innings from starters Jordan Lyles on their way to victory.
Baltimore won Monday as a +115 home dog on the dime line and the game played over a total of 9.5 runs.
With Monday’s win, the Orioles are 6-1 over their last seven games.
With Monday’s loss, Toronto is 2-4 over its last six games.
At 60-49 and 57-52 overall, respectively, the Blue Jays and Baltimore are probably not going to catch the division-leading Yankees in the AL East race. But Toronto leads the AL wild-card race by a game and a half over second-place Tampa Bay, and the Orioles only trail Seattle by one game in the battle for the No. 3 spot.
The O’s lead the season series with the Jays three games to two.
Tuesday’s Pitching Match-Up
This pitching match-up is a rematch of a game played back in June at Rogers Centre, an 11-1 Toronto victory.
Bradish is just 2/12 on quality starts this season, pitching on a short leash. Last Wednesday, he held Texas to one run and three hits through five innings of a 6-3 Baltimore victory. And just before that, he held Cincinnati to two runs through five frames of a 6-2 Orioles win.
Baltimore is 7-5 with Bradish this season, and that’s actually about what they should be, based on his performances.
In his only career start against Toronto, that game back in June, Bradish allowed five runs and nine hits through 4 1/3 innings and took the L.
Manoah is a solid 17/21 on quality starts this year and four for his last five. Last Thursday, he limited Minnesota to two runs and two hits through six innings of a 9-3 Blue Jays victory. And over his last five starts, he’s allowed ten runs and 23 hits through 31 2/3 innings.
Toronto is 13-8 with Manoah this season, and that’s probably three games worse than they should be, based on what he’s done on a regular basis.
Over four career starts against the Orioles, three last year and the one back in June of this season, Manoah allowed seven runs – six earned – and ten hits through 22 1/3 innings, with five walks against 29 strikeouts. The Blue Jays won three of those four games.
Splits With the Sticks
Toronto is batting an ML-best .267 against right-handed pitching this season, with a .329 team OBP and a .441 team slugging percentage. Numbers like those lead us to rank this line-up among the top three in Baseball in this split.
Baltimore is slashing .238/.306/.395 against right-handed pitching.
