MLB Betting Odds
Sunday’s baseball betting lines opened this game at right around a pick ’em, with an over/under of 8.5 runs. Early betting action then slid Los Angeles into a -125 favorite and bumped that total to nine.
Mets-Angels MLB Betting Preview
New York took the opener of this series Friday night 7-3, but Los Angeles won Saturday’s game 11-6. The Mets won Friday as -135 favorites on the dime line, while the Angels won Saturday as +120 underdogs.
Also, both games played over their totals.
With Saturday’s win, Los Angeles is now 2-1 since its epic 14-game losing skid. At 29-32 overall, the Angels trail first-place Houston by eight games in the AL West, and they’re 2.5 games behind Boston in the battle for the third and final AL wild-card spot.
With Saturday’s loss, New York is 1-3 over its last four games. But at 39-22 overall, the Mets still lead the NL East by 5.5 games over second-place Atlanta. This series is the first meeting between these two teams since 2017.
Sunday’s Pitching Match-Up
Lefty Sandoval is 3/9 on quality starts this season but 0 for his last two. Last Sunday, he gave up two runs on four hits and four walks through 4 2/3 innings of a 9-7 Los Angeles loss to Philadelphia. And just before that, he gave up six runs – five earned – and five hits through only three innings of an 11-10 Angels loss to Toronto. Los Angeles is 6-3 with Sandoval this season but 0-2 his last two times out. This start will be Sandoval’s first career start against the Mets. Walker is 2/9 on quality starts this year but also owns three what we’d call “near misses.” Tuesday, he gave up four runs and five hits through six innings of a 7-0 New York loss to San Diego. But over his three starts previous to that, he allowed only four runs and 18 hits through 17 2/3 innings. The Mets are 4-5 with Walker this season, 0-2 his last two times out. This will be Walker’s first start against the Angels since 2020 when he was with Seattle.
