Saturday’s baseball betting lines opened Los Angeles at around -160 over Colorado, with an over/under of 11.5 runs. Early betting action then dipped the Dodgers a dime to -150.
LA could also be found “getting” around +100, giving the run and a half on the run line.
Dodgers-Rockies MLB Betting Preview
Los Angeles took the opener of this season-opening series Friday night, 5-3. The Dodgers spotted Colorado the first two runs of the game, then scored five runs with two outs in the top of the fourth inning and hung on from there.
LA won Friday as a -205 favorite on the baseball betting dime line and covered against the run line at a price of around -145.
Also, Friday’s game played under a total of 11.5 runs.
The Dodgers won 106 games last year and played over their season wins over/under of 101.5. This season LA is playing against a wins O/U of 96.5.
The Rockies won 74 games last year to play over their wins O/U of 64.5. This year Colorado is playing against a “season win” over/under of 67.5.
Los Angeles took the season series from the Rockies last year, 13 games to six.
Saturday’s Pitching Match-Up
Marquez hit 15/32 on quality starts last season, but he finished poorly, going a bad 0 for his last three. On the whole, Marquez posted a 4.40 ERA and a 1.27 WHIP through 180 innings last year, with a 176/64 strikeouts/walks ratio.
Colorado played a very respectable 20-12 with Marquez last season.
Over his last three starts against the Dodgers, one in 2020 and two last season, Marquez allowed eight runs and 17 hits through 15 innings, although he also walked 13 guys over that span. The Rockies won all three of those games, and two of them played over their totals.
Gonsolin “hit” 0/13 on quality starts last year, although some of that was due to a short leash. On the whole, Gonsolin put up a 3.23 ERA but a 1.35 WHIP through 55 2/3 innings last season, with 65 K’s but also 34 walks, which is too many.
The Dodgers played 10-3 with Gonsolin last year, which ain’t bad, either.
Over three career starts against Colorado, two in 2020 and one last year, Gonsolin allowed four runs – three earned – and eight hits through 16 1/3 innings, with three walks and 25 whiffs!. Somehow, LA lost two of those three games, while all three games played under their totals.
Splits With the Sticks
Los Angeles batted .245 against right-handed pitching last season, with a .334 team OBP and a .425 team slugging percentage. Then over the off-season, they added a huge left-handed bat with Freddie Freeman.
Colorado slashed .242/.310/.403 against RH-handed pitching last year.

The Bullpens
The Dodgers bullpen posted a 3.16 ERA last season, along with a 1.19 WHIP, both of which ranked in the top three in Baseball. Over the off-season, LA lost closer Jansen but replaced him with Kimbrel, who picked up a save Friday night.
The Rockies pen put up a 4.91 ERA last year and a 1.42 WHIP, although we all know some of that is ballpark-related.
