Texas, meanwhile, just took two of three games from the White Sox in Chicago, winning Sunday’s series rubber match 8-6 in 12 innings. Just before that, though, the Rangers lost two of three at Cleveland, and just before that they lost two of three to the Mariners. Going back a bit further the Rangers are 4-7 over their last 11 games.
At 37-23 overall the Astros lead the AL West by 8.5 games over 28-31 Texas.
The Rangers also trail Boston by three games in the battle for the third and final AL wild-card spot.
