Giants-Angels Betting Preview
San Francisco just split four games at Philadelphia, losing Thursday’s series finale 6-4. Just before that, the Giants took two of three games at the Yankees. So San Francisco is 5-3 over its last eight games.
At 13-6 overall, the Giants trail first-place San Diego by two games in the NL West.
Meanwhile Los Angeles just got swept three games at Texas, losing Thursday’s series finale 5-3. Just before that the Angels lost two of three at Houston. So Los Angeles owns a four-game losing skid heading into Friday night.
At 9-9 overall, the Angels trail the first-place Rangers by 2.5 games in the AL West.
These teams met once last year, in June when Los Angeles took two of three games at Oracle Park. Anderson picked up the W in one of those games.
Friday’s Pitching Match-Up
Anderson is 0/3 on quality starts this season, pitching on a short leash. First, he gave up three runs and two home runs in five innings at St. Louis, although Los Angeles won that game 5-4 in extra innings. Then he held Cleveland to two runs through five innings, although he also walked four, in a 6-2 Angels victory. Then last Saturday, he held Houston scoreless on one hit, although he again walked four, through 5 2/3 innings of a 4-1 LA win.
So the Angels are 3-0 with Anderson this season, and the Unders are 2-1.
In his one start against San Francisco last season, Anderson allowed just one run on five hits and five walks through 5 1/3 innings of an 8-6 Los Angeles victory.
Webb is 2/4 on quality starts this year. Two weeks ago, he held the Astros to one run through seven innings of a 3-1 Giants win and followed that up with a wonderful outing against Cincinnati, throwing seven shutout innings with zero walks and 10 strikeouts, although San Francisco lost that game 2-0. Then, last Sunday, he gave up three runs in five innings against the Yankees, walking four, but picked up the W in a 5-4 Giants victory.
So San Francisco is 3-1 with Webb, with the totals split 2-2.
In his most recent start against the Angels, back in 2023, Webb allowed one ER and seven hits through 5 2/3 innings of an 8-3 Giants win.
