MLB Betting Odds
Sunday’s baseball betting market opened with Los Angeles at right around -150 over Atlanta, with an O/U of 9. Early betting action bumped the Dodgers to -155.
LA could also be found catching around +110 on the run line, which is always an option when the favorite is playing on the road, knowing they’ll bat nine times.
Dodgers-Braves Betting Preview
Los Angeles took the opener of this series Friday night 2-1, then grabbed Saturday’s game 10-3. The Dodgers got a quality outing from Yoshinobu Yamamoto Friday, then rapped out 12 hits Saturday, including home runs from Ohtani and Freeman.
LA won as a -175 favorite Friday night, then as a +125 dog Saturday.
So the Dodgers now own a seven-game winning streak. At 23-10 overall Los Angeles leads the NL West by a game and a half over second-place San Diego.
Conversely, Atlanta now owns a three-game losing skid. At 14-18 overall the Braves are already 7.5 games behind the first-place Mets in the NL East.
Last year, the Dodgers took the season series from Atlanta five games to two, and they lead this year’s series five games to none.
Sunday’s Pitching Match-Up
Elder started a bit rough this season but he’s been better his last couple times out. Two starts ago he held St. Louis to one run through six innings of a 4-1 Atlanta victory. Then Monday he gave up a three-run homer in first inning against Colorado, then tossed five innings of shutout ball from there as the Braves came back to win 6-3.
Atlanta is 3-2 with Elder this season, although 2-3 would more accurately describe his overall performance.
Over his last two starts against the Dodgers, one last year and one about a month ago, Elder allowed 10 runs and five home runs – Ohtani, Muncy, Pages – through less than eight innings. The Braves lost both those games, and both games played over on the totals.
Meanwhile May started well this season but he’s been a bit rough his last couple times out. Two starts ago he gave up five runs in the first inning against the Cubs, seven through five and took a loss. Then Monday he gave up three runs in 5 1/3 against Miami, although LA won that game 7-6 in 10 innings.
The Dodgers are 3-2 with May this year, which is what they should be. Also, the overs are 3-2 with May.
In his most recent start against Atlanta, one month ago, May allowed one unearned run and one hit in five innings of a 3-1 Los Angeles victory.
