Diamondbacks-Yankees Betting Preview
Arizona just opened its season by splitting four games at home with the Cubs, winning Sunday’s series finale 10-6. The D’Backs trailed Chicago 6-2 into the bottom of the eighth inning Sunday, then put up an 8-spot to steal the W.
Last year Arizona won 89 games but missed the playoffs. Over the off-season the Diamondbacks lost a good man in 1B Christian Walker but added Burnes. This year the D’Backs are playing against a wins O/U of 86.5.
Meanwhile, the Yankees just opened their season by sweeping three games from Milwaukee by scores of 4-2, 20-9, and Sunday 12-3. New York rapped out 34 hits over the three games, including 15 home runs. However, we should point out that the Brewers’ pitching ain’t great, and the wind was blowing out at Yankee Stadium. So it wasn’t all the bats.
Last year, New York won 94 games and the American League pennant. Over the off-season, the Yanks lost OF Juan Soto but added veteran sticks such as Cody Bellinger and Paul Goldschmidt. This season, New York is playing against a wins O/U of 88.5.
These teams met once last season when the Yankees took two of three games in Phoenix in early April.
Tuesday’s Pitching Match-Up
Warren is making his first appearance of this season. Last year, as a rookie, he posted a 10.32 ERA and a 1.90 WHIP through 23 innings. New York played 2-3 in Warren’s starts.
This will be Warren’s first career outing against Arizona, which might work to his advantage, at least for the first couple of times through the line-up.
Burnes is also making his first appearance of this season. Last year, pitching for Baltimore, Burnes posted a 2.92 ERA and a 1.10 WHIP through 194 innings. The Orioles played 20-12 with Burnes.
In two starts against the Yankees last season Burnes allowed three runs and six hits through 11 innings, with two walks against 15 strikeouts. Baltimore lost both those games but that wasn’t his fault.
