The Brewers have taken the first two games of this four-game playoff rematch with the Rockies in Beer City, and shoot for the series victory Wednesday night. Who do we like here for our free MLB pick?
MLB Betting Odds
Wednesday’s MLB betting odds opened Milwaukee and Anderson at around -135 over Colorado and Senzatela, with an over/under of nine runs. Early betting action then dipped that line down to -130.
Rockies vs. Brewers Set-Up
The Brewers took the opener of this series Monday night 5-1, then won Tuesday 4-3. Milwaukee led Tuesday’s game 4-0 into the top of the ninth, let the Rockies get within 4-3 but hung on for the victory.
With Tuesday’s loss, Colorado owns a three-game losing streak. At 13-17 overall the Rockies trail the division-leading Dodgers by six games in the NL West.
With Tuesday’s win, the Brewers 4-1 over their last five games. At 17-14 overall the Brew Crew trails first-place St. Louis by three games in the NL Central.
This series is the first meeting between these teams this season. Last year Milwaukee took the regular-season series from Colorado five games to two, then swept the Rockies in three games in a National League divisional-round playoff series.
Wednesday’s Starting Arms
Anderson is 0/2 on quality starts this season, to go along with five appearances in relief, but he’s actually been pretty good. Last Friday he gave up two runs and five hits through 4 2/3 innings of a 10-2 Brewers win over the Mets. And six days before that he held the Dodgers scoreless on one hit through five innings of a 5-0 Milwaukee victory.
So the Brewers are 2-0 with Anderson starting this season.
This will be Anderson’s first start against Colorado since 2017 when in two outings he allowed just two runs and five hits through 11 innings. Milwaukee split those two games.
Senzatela is 1/3 on quality starts this season. Last Friday he gave up three runs and seven hits through 5 2/3 innings of an 8-4 Rockies victory over Atlanta, and over his three starts, he’s allowed eight runs and 20 hits through 18 1/3 innings.
Colorado is 2-1 with Senzatela this season.
Over two career starts against the Brewers, one in 2017 and one in last year’s playoffs, Senzatela allowed just two runs and five hits through 10 innings. The Rockies split those two games.
Wednesday’s Batting Splits
Colorado is batting .234/.295/.405 against right-handed pitching this season.
Milwaukee is batting .242/.321/.446 against RH pitching this season. However, this lineup may be without its biggest stick in Christian Yelich, who’s missed the last two games with a sore back.
The Bullpens
The Rockies bullpen owns a 3.45 ERA this season, along with a 1.30 WHIP and a 91/46 K/BB ratio.
The Brewers bullpen owns a 4.63 ERA, a 1.34 WHIP and a 130/59 K/BB ratio.
