Friday’s MLB betting odds opened LA at around -180 over Colorado, with an over/under of 7.5 runs, and both those figures were holding steady in early betting action.
The Rockies vs. Dodgers Set-Up
Colorado just swept three games at Arizona earlier this week, coming from behind to win Thursday’s series finale 6-4 in 10 innings. Just before that, the Rockies split four games at home with San Diego, and just before that they took two of three from the Cubs. So Colorado is 7-3 over its last 10 games.
Los Angeles, meanwhile, just took three of four games at home from San Francisco, winning Thursday’s series finale 9-8. Just before that the Dodgers took three of four at home from the Cubs. So LA is 6-2 over its last eight games.
At 51-25 overall Los Angeles leads the NL West by 10 games over 40-34 Colorado. The Dodgers are also 6.5 games up on Atlanta in the battle for the best record in the National League.
Also, thanks to their recent good run the Rockies now lead the National League wild-card race by a half-game over second-place Milwaukee.
This series is the second meeting between these teams this season. Back in April LA swept three games from Colorado in Denver.
Friday’s Starting Arms
Buehler is 8/14 on quality starts this season, working on a run of three in a row. Last Saturday he held the Cubs scoreless on two hits through seven innings of a game the Dodgers eventually lost 2-1. And over his last three starts, he’s allowed just one run and nine hits through 22 innings, with 26 strikeouts against only one walk.
Los Angeles is 9-5 with Buehler this season, 4-1 over his last five starts.
Over seven career starts against the Rockies, six last year and one back in April of this season, Buehler allowed 10 earned runs and 27 hits through 42 2/3 innings. The Dodgers won four of those seven games.
Marquez is 6/16 on quality starts this year, but 0 for his last three. Last Saturday he got clipped for seven runs and 10 hits in 5 2/3 innings against the Padres, although Colorado won that game anyway 14-8. And over his last three starts, he’s allowed 19 runs and 22 hits through 17 innings.
