Red Sox-Orioles MLB Betting Preview
Baltimore won the opener of this series Friday night 15-10, but Boston won Saturday’s game 4-3. The Orioles won Friday as -105 favorites on the dime line, while the Red Sox won Saturday as -125 chalk.
With Saturday’s win, Boston is 6-3 over its last nine games. But at 60-61 overall, the Red Sox are still five games behind Tampa Bay in the battle for the third and final American League wild-card spot.
With Saturday’s loss, Baltimore is 4-6 over its last ten games. At 62-58 overall, the Orioles trail the Rays by 2.5 games in that AL wild-card race.
Baltimore leads the season series with Boston six games to five.
Bowman Field has hosted four MLB games previously; the Pirates beat the Cardinals 6-3 in 2017; the Mets beat the Phillies 8-2 in ’18; the Cubs beat the Pirates 7-1 in 2019; and last year, the Indians beat the Angels 3-0. So the ballpark plays to ML specifications.
Sunday’s Pitching Match-Up

The Orioles are 8-5 with Kremer this season, although that’s actually probably one win better than they should be, based on his performances.

Pivetta is 9/24 on quality starts this year but 0 for his last seven. Most recently, 11 days ago, he gave up three runs and five hits through six innings of an 8-4 Red Sox loss to Atlanta. And over his last three starts, he’s allowed ten runs and 21 hits, including four home runs, through 16 innings.
Boston is 12-12 with Pivetta this season but only 2-5 his last seven times out.
Over two starts already this season against Baltimore, Pivetta allowed four runs and 11 hits through 10 1/3 innings. The Red Sox split those two games.
