On Saturday, October 13th, the Brigham Young University Cougars (3-3) will host the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors (6-1). The kick-off time set for 10:15 PM EDT and will be televised on ESPN+ streaming live from Lavell Edwards Stadium in Provo, Utah. These two sides have met on ten occasions dating back to 1994. The Cougars have won nine of those meetings. Last year in their most recent encounter in the islands, BYU would notch a win in a 30-20 final against the Warriors.

The Warriors come in off their sixth win this season, but once again it was by tooth and nail. Last week, the Rainbow Warriors hosted the Wyoming Cowboys in Honolulu in what resulted in an atypical defensive battle between offensive-oriented teams. Hawaii would sail to a 17-13 victory. Previous to this, Hawaii required three overtimes to dispatch winless San Jose State in the week prior.
Brigham Young University Cougars
After hitting their high water mark of a top-25 ranking two weeks ago, the Cougars have since come crashing down to Earth after being known as the team that knocked off Wisconsin in Madison. The Cougars enter on a two-game skid sustained at the hands of both top-10 ranked Washington in Seattle and a Utah State team at home that has lost just one game to a then-ranked Michigan State this season.
Reasons To Back Brigham Young University
The strength of schedule is a huge determining factor in this affair. At the minimum, the Cougars have faced three quality opponents this season as they have met Washington as mentioned above and Wisconsin, along with California. All three of these teams have been ranked. Hawaii has not played anyone remotely close to the caliber of these three outfits.
Reasons To Avoid Hawaii
We saw Hawaii enter in a similar capacity when they played the one good team they did face this year: Army. If you were caught jumping on Hawaii early as a sub-touchdown pup, you got burned as the Black Knights won the affair by the touchdown-plus extra point. The Rainbow Warriors look too easy here, and that is why so many are inclined to jump all over them. On paper, the Rainbow Warriors have a better record, so therefore the points seem that much more enticing. However, it is assuredly a bait and line.
