Week 9 CFL action has a match of two clubs who had much higher expectations when the season got underway. The 3-4 Eskimos battle the 4-3 Argonauts at BMO Field on Saturday in what could be considered a must win for both teams. The Argos are listed on the odds board as a -2.5 point spread favorite with a total line of 52.5 points.
It has been hard to get a handle on Edmonton in its unexpected 3-4 SU start and betting on the Eskimos has been worse with a 2-4-1 record ATS. The total has stayed UNDER in their last three games behind a scoring average of 22 points a game. Credit Edmonton’s defense for last week’s win against Montreal, but it is going to need a much better effort from quarterback Mike Reilly and an offense that has been very inconsistent at time to get past Toronto on the road this Saturday.
The Argonauts remain in the thick of the East Division title race at 4-3 (SU and ATS), but they are still trying to figure out what went wrong in last week’s 34-17 loss to Winnipeg as four-point home favorites. The loss of Ricky Ray at quarterback has not helped the cause and the jury is still out on Logan Kilgore as a feasible replacement. He was picked off five times in that game to diminish his 303 yards passing on 26 completions.
