The Washington Redskins (2-2) and Carolina Panthers (3-1) will square off in an NFC conference clash at FedEx Field on Sunday, October 14th, 2018 at 1:00 PM ET. The contest will be televised for regional audiences on FOX. The Redskins last win against the Panthers came in 2006 when they defeated Carolina in a defensive battle by a score of 17-13. Since then, the Panthers have won five consecutive outings against the Skins. Most recently, the two teams met in 2016 in D.C. where Carolina cruised past Washington by a score of 26-15 as a seven-point underdog. The Panthers have also covered in the last four games between the two.
Carolina Panthers at Washington Redskins Overview
Carolina Panthers
The Panthers come in off their second win a row when they squeaked past the lowly New York Giants in Charlotte by a score of 33-31. The game had plenty of thrill as it was decided on a match-deciding 63-yard field goal to get Carolina the win at the close of regulation. It was Graham Gano that was the hero that fateful day at Bank of America Stadium.
Washington Redskins
The Redskins come in off a beating they took at the hands of the New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football when they fell 43-19. The story of the game, of course, was not Washington taking an ugly loss but rather New Orleans’ favorite son quarterback Drew Brees breaking Peyton Manning’s all-time record for career passing yards.
Reasons To Avoid Carolina
The Panthers come in off what has to be classed as a near-miraculous win given what transpired against one of the weaker teams in the NFC in New York. Usually, teams that come in off hard-fought victories are prone for a let-down in their follow-up.
Reasons To Back Washington
Most of the country bore witness to Washington taking a thumping because of the spectacle attached to the latest episode of Monday Night Football in particular. Washington looked weak, and many spectators saw this. The market opened with Washington spotting more points to the visitors, but that has quickly diminished as the line has fallen by 1.5 points to reflect steam on Carolina. However, Washington is favored for a reason here. After all, two weeks ago we saw the Skins offered as a 2.5-point underdog in D.C. against the highly-touted Green Bay Packers, and they went on to win by two scores. This team is very potent in its own perch.
